I am freakin’ lovin’ this new holographic makeup trend! When the light hits your face just right and it shimmers in two or three different shades, that my friends, is magic! Now, because I live in Romania, a country where you can’t find most of the in-style makeup, when I entered the Melkior shop and saw this eyeshadow trio, I was extatic.
When I first saw this eyeshadow trio, it didn’t seem holographic, but as soon as I swatched it, I knew I needed it in my life. It was the 24th of February, which is the Romanian equivalent of Valentine’s, so I also got a 30% discount on it. Instead of paying 11€, I paid about 7€. That’s a pretty good price if I might add.
The purple has beautiful blue-ish reflections, the pink has purple-ish reflections, and the third is just a white-ish silver, something in between, but not holographic. The consistency is very interesting, it feels buttery yet when you rub your brush in the pan it creates a lot of crumble, just like more chalky eyeshadows.
It says that it expires six months after having been opened. I don’t understand why, most eyeshadows have a two year life. Honestly, you can usually keep them even more than that if you take care and dissinfect them. FFS after paying so much money on my palettes, I ain’t gonna throw them that easily!
I have used these on my eyes, lips, nose, cheeks. If you want to look like a unicorn, this trio from Melkior will do the trick. I mixed the pink and purple when I used them as a highlight, they are a bit pink, but if you use a small quantity or mix the pink/purple with the white it’ll do the job. You could also use the pink as a blush, or just pack these over a creamy lipstick to create a pair of entrancing lips.
- Easily blendable
- Short life (six months after opening)
- A bit crumbly
Even though it’s a bit crumbly and messy I don’t mind it. It makes a mess in the pan but I didn’t get fallout on my face, so it’s a win!
Final Rating: Full Moon with a Star
