5 Ways to Give Yourself a Spa Day

Spa day! Yaaaas! Slaaaaay!

I know you’ve heard it all before but I can not stress enough on how important it is to give yourself a little “me time”, and I’m not talking about the hand down your pants type. No! I’m talking about a lil’bit of pampering yourself. If you can afford the time and money to go to a spa regularly, then good for you. But if you’re a cheap hoe like me, I’m gonna’ teach you how to pamper yourself on a budget.

1.Foot Bath

All you need is a wash basin and from there you can improvise. You can add a little bath salt for relaxation, shower or bubble bath gel for the foam and to make the smell go away. If the smell is extra persistent, add some baking soda, it will kill those odor causing bacterias. Have some flowers lying around? Throw’em in the mix for that luxurious spa feeling. If you’re feeling up to it, you can afterwards scrub your feet, and maybe do your pedicure. It’s all up to you, your skills(maybe you only like having your pedicure done at a salon) and time. A foost bath is a fast and easy way of relaxing your feet and mind after a long day of stomping your enemies.

2.Face Masks

Some people believe that face masks don’t do anything, but I beg to differ. Even if you use a mask that is not really life changing, you still are left feeling pampered, and with a temporarily soft skin. While you soak your feet in water or take a bath, why don’t you put on a store bought mask or a home-made one?! I like to alternate, or apply consecutive masks. I start off with either a good face scrubbing, or a black mask. After all the bad shit has been peeled off of my skin, I go in with a clay mask. I mix the one from Aslavital (a Romanian brand) with some bottled water…. cause tap water ain’t that good for your skin. I let it sit until it dries and starts crumbling all over. I then gently wash it off with my fingers and wet cotton pads.

3.A Hot Bath

I usually run around like a chicken that just got its’ head cut off. I take fast showers, there’s never a moment wasted. I’ll brush my teeth while letting my conditioner heal my hair. Take the time to run yourself a nice bath. Add salts, bubbles, a bath bomb, maybe some flower petals. Put on some relaxing music, close your eyes and try not to think. I usually enjoy reading in the bath, but from time to time you should just make the time to not do ANYTHING! In a world where we’re constantly bombarded by information, stress and our brains are continuously rattling, WE NEED A BREAK! Learning to just sit and relax is an art… which I’m currently working on learning. I have to learn to press the pause button on all of my thoughts and breathe.

4.Scrub

Scrub yo’ tub and yourself! I have bought and used fancy ass scrubs and stuff for my entire body. And let me tell you something: the best scrub for your face and body is coffee. Use your old coffe grounds, mix’em with shower gel or your face clanser and rub intensely in circular motions. Now, this might not work as well for sensitive skin, so be careful, but if you’re a thick skin witch like me, it’ll do wonders. I also scrub my lips usins a simple tool: a tooth brush. I rub my lips gently with it, because I have a really harsh one, and afterwards I hydrate with a lip balm.

5.Massage

Convince, or force (either way works) your boyfriend/girlfriend/roommate to give you a relaxing massage. If you don’t have massage oil, use a body cream. Light some candles, put some music and let somebody do all the work for you. If you’re alone, massage yourself. You can always get an electric massager, or those glass wands that you can use to massage your face. There are many tools out there to help you massage your entire body by yourself, and most of them are also inexpensive. Give them a try! The most expensive one though is also the best: a lover! You pay with love to receive love, but it’s totally worth it!

I’m not gonna post pics with my sexy ass in the tub, instead here are some pics with my cat Miţ Miţ trying to apply my face mask.

And one more thing: besides buying foreign products, try to support local brands too, especialy when they’re freakin’ great, like the products from Farmec, the company that owns the brands: Farmec, Gerovital, Aslamed, Aslavital, and many more. Check them out here, if you’re in Romania. Their clay masks are great because they are NATURAL!
